API Council structure
Each Council member is officially appointed by the Payments NZ Board, following the nomination process set out in the API Council Charter. The API Council can have up to 15 members, including an independent chair. All members are required to act in the best interests of the API Centre.
There are two regulatory observers who attend Council meetings, from the Commerce Commission Te Komihana Tauhokohoko and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment Hīkina Whakatutuki (MBIE).
The API Council has:
- Up to six registered API Providers.
- Up to six registered Third Parties.
- Three independent members, including the chair.
- Two non-voting regulatory observers.

API Council Charter
